Oh, gosh, can *I* help here. We had fought this for ages before I finally got it right. Here are the steps to setup properly: 1) Define your net alias for the printer queue on the server. 2) Have the "Print Manager" enabled on all requesters wishing to use the printer. 3) Define a local queue and printer def using the SAME printer driver that is used on the server and the SAME LPT number that is used in the NET USE command. This is documented somewhere (I have read it before), but I cannot seem to remember where.
