SL|When it comes time to upgrade many of my office PC's to OS/2 or
SL|whatever, I've got an alternative to having to buy a             
SL|non-reliable, costly 386/486 add in card -- A real motherboard!  

I think you are slightly confused here, Steve.  A passive backplane
system uses SBCs.. Single Board Computers.  That means the SBC _IS_
a full motherboard in itself.  Where you normally have the
motherboard is a smaller board with the ISA connectors and power &
keyboard connectors.
