[comp.os.os2.misc] Disk change problem

bright@nazgul.UUCP (Walter Bright) (06/06/91)

I have a wierd problem with OS/2 1.2. I installed a 1.44 Mb drive as
drive B. Everything works fine, until I change disks. OS/2 insists
that the directory of the new disk is the same as the old, and if
I am unfortunate enough to try to write to the disk, it writes the
directory of the old disk onto the new. This scrambles it so bad it
has to be reformatted.

It occurs to me that the 'disk changed' wire either doesn't work or
is not supported by my machine (an old Club AT). Is there any way I
can tell OS/2 to check the disk each time to see if it really is the
same disk, like what DOS does?

The only way I seem to be able to convince it that the disk has changed
is to pull out the disk, and try to copy a file to drive B, and wait
for the system error.

ARRRRRRRGGGGGHHHHH!
