[comp.os.os2.misc] NEW AMI BIOS

yee@aix01.aix.rpi.edu (Crimson Avenger) (06/13/91)

Hi folks, I put in new BIOS for $65 and STILL no OS/2 1.3. I don't know
what the problem is.. HELP! Will someone E-mail me a copy of a device
driver BASEDD01.SYS from OS/2 1.2? Please.. If anybody is from IBM who
knows the answer HELP!... It's an ACMA, x386/33, with AMI BIOS 4/90 and new
Keyboard driver... with 150 meg ESDI hard disk. It doesn't recognize the
hard disk and have a were diagnostic error message. I'll post it later.

Here is some info:

That's all I know.. I hate to waste the $125 I spent for buying IBM OS/2 1.3
SE. It certainly will give me a sour taste if nobody can help me.. especially
to IBM. I don't want to wait for 2.0 and be disappointed. WILL someone get
on it RIGHT NOW?

HELP.. What is wrong? I think it's an NEC hard disk controller and
150 MEG ESDI hard disk.

The dealer is no use, and I already upgraded the BIOS. I have spent more
time and money than the average user would in getting OS/2 working. Will
SOMEBODY send me the BETA 2.0 version? Maybe it might work.

I wonder about the partition table. Are these MS or IBM standard
partitions or something else?

The problem is with the hard disk controller... I spoke to a tech person
about OS/2 1.3 and they acknowledge that there is a problem. They swear
to me that IBM OS/2 1.2 works FINE!!!! I don't know, it sounds like
IBM changed something. I was also the first one to complain aobut the
disk controller. I don't know, what I will do, I won't buy another ESDI
hard disk controller.

If I send in my waranty card, can I ask IBM for a copy of 1.2 diskettes?

Just a thought.

I too. More than one DOS-16 partition and BIGDOS partition in the root
partition table?

DOS ... is still a real mode only non-reentrant interrupt
handler, and always will be. -Russell Williams
