I would like to take it upon myself to compile an OS/2 "Compatibility" List. I put the word compatibility in quotes because there are no guarantees inherent in this list, just anecdotal user experiences. Please send me a quick note with the following information for each of the machines at your location that are running OS/2. Perhaps we can debunk the myth that OS/2 does not run on even the most compatible computers. I would also appreciate any responses about failed attempts to run OS/2. Please be as specific as possible. I'll compile the list, post it, and maintain it as best I can and as long as my energy keeps up. Your reply should include the following, if known: (1) OS/2 Version (e.g. IBM OS/2 SE 1.3 Refresh 1.30.1) (2) Computer Make/Model (e.g. IBM PC/AT 339, Epson Equity III+, etc.) (3) Motherboard Make/Model (e.g. Mylex 80386/25 64K cache) (4) BIOS Type/Version/Date (e.g. Phoenix BIOS 3.06 January 19, 1987) (5) Video card make/model (e.g. ATI VGA Wonder Plus 512K) (6) Video driver used with OS/2 (e.g. included VGA, ATI OS/2 800x600 Driver version 1.234) (7) Serial ports (e.g. two with 16450 UARTs) (8) Parallel ports (e.g. two) (9) Memory size (e.g. 640K Conventional plus 2176K extended) (10) Memory Board Make/Model (e.g. AST Ramvantage 3MB extended memory board) (11) Mouse Make/Model (e.g. Logitech C9 bus) (12) Mouse driver used with OS/2 (e.g. included PC Mouse serial) (13) Hard disk drive make/model (e.g. Seagate ST-4096 MFM) (14) Hard/floppy disk drive controller make/model (e.g. Western Digital WD1007-SR2 RLL) (15) Floppy disk drive(s) (e.g. one 5.25 inch Mitsubishi 1.2 MB) (16) Keyboard Make/Model (e.g. Northgate Ultra Plus) (17) Printer Make/Model (e.g. Epson FX-286e) (18) Other (a broad category, e.g. network card, tape backup system, anything "unusual" or not included above) Items 1 through 17 should include most of the core items related to OS/2 compatibility. One last request: on the Subject line, put "OS/2 List." Thanks for your help. T.F.S. Timothy F. Sipples sip1@sam.spc.uchicago.edu

If people are interested, I could post it here. I haven't looked at it yet, I don't know how large it is... -- uunet!dialogic!gerry | "Even a dead plant turns | Dialogic Corporation OR | over a new leaf | 300 Littleton Rd gerry@dialogic.UUCP | when the wind blows." | Parsippany, NJ 07054 | | (201)334-8450

Mathematica 386/7 does not work under OS/2 1.3 as a DOS app.
