I bought a number of hard and floppy drives from a business associate who was shutting down his repair shop for a time being. I have several of each of the following drives which I want to start installing on some of my machines, the rest for a BBS which may be starting up soon. If anyone can help me with some specifications, I would be most appreciative. The two drives which I am unable to find information on are: 5.25" Floppy drive. Panasonic brand, manufactured by Matsushita Communications. Numbers on the back of the drive are JU-455-5, and LR5547 6 E66484 80 Mb hard drive. Quantum Prodrive 80AT. Setup specifications are drive type #56, 965 Cyl, 10 head, 17 sector, 84Mb. I need to know if it is RLL, MFM, EDSI, or SCSI ? Thanks. -------- Carlin Anderson North Dakota State University Fargo, ND 58105 UUCP: ...!uunet!plains!canders BITNET: canders@plains.bitnet INTERNET: canders@plains.NoDak.edu nu111783@vm1.NoDak.edu ----------------------------------------------------------------------------

I cannot be certain (the old human ROM is failing) which model corresponds to which, but the Panasonic drive mentioned was also marketed as a Shugart drive. I seem to recall that the Panasonic 455 MIGHT be a SS/QD drive. DO NOT HOLD ME TO THIS! F'rinstance. I have the manual for the Shugart 455/465 drives, and the 455 is a DS/DD, and the 465 is a DS/QD. (455 is DD-40tpi, 465 is DD-80tpi.) I believe the Panasonic version of the Shugart 465, was marketed as their model 475. Confusing, eh?
