I recently put up a Heathkit HD-4040 TNC as WA1OMM in Nashua, NH. I am a local user of the W0RLI Packet BBS in Westford, MA. I would be interested in hearing from anyone using the Heathkit TNC with comments about it. Are there any quirks or patches? How can I have messages stored in RAM for later retrieval? Any help would be appreciated. 73 Paul - WA1OMM

Here's the scenario - I am using a Heathkit TNC and a Commodore 64. I connect the 64 to the TNC via an MSD RS232 interface and a straight- through RS232 cable (pins 1-8 and 20). Terminal parameters are set correctly, however I cannot receive anything on my screen. What is sent seems to make it to the TNC since my my PTT light turns on. Another computer with a real RS232 output works just fine. Heathkit says they tested the TNC with a 64 using the Commodore 1012A RS232 adapter. So, could it be that the MSD is not quite the same as the Commodore adapter? Is anyone using a Commodore with an MSD RS232 interface? Please advise. I can be contacted through the W0RLI PBBS in Westford, MA. 73 de WA1OMM Paul
