If I remember right there were some recent postings about software implementations of the MNP protocol for modems. What emerged from the discussion was that the software implementation had quite a high overhead. So I didn't give the topic a second thought until I found that a text file I was editing using vi under Unix was corrupted as a result of noise on the line. Of course, when one is using the PC as a terminal, the high overhead of the software emulation shouldn't matter a great deal because one isn't typing all that fast. To come to the point, would someone who has used the MNP emulation let me know where I can get the software and whether I can use it with kermit, the terminal emulation package I'm using now. I checked the SIMTEL20 archives and found a MNP2 emulator, but that has to be compiled into whatever terminal emulation package one is using, or so I gather. thanks Shankar Subramanian
