Here at UVM, we are running Unix Sys V/386 version 3.2.2 (upgrading to SysV Ver 4.0 soon) and I am very impressed with it. The basic package comes with every- thing to run a stand-alone system and also have a menu system for those not familiar with Unix. Add on packages include NFS, Xwindows, a multiple DOS shell and plenty of other useful packages. This system is completely Xenix compatible (with a package that is included with the base package) and SysV Ver 4.0 will have BSD commands. Another bonus is that with another add-on and cards you can make it into a StarLan server and still run terminals (that is what we are doing). I don't know about prices, but I am very impressed with the package. Gary Bushey opergb@uvm-gen.uvm.edu

According to a seminar I attended yesterday, Compaq and SCO are working together quite closely nowadays - especially in the multiprocessing Unix arena. I haven't used SCO Unix in years, so I can't provide any first hand advice. If I can ever find the time, I do want to get it and try it out. -- Marshall L. I have also been very satisfied with System V/386 R3.2 (originally from BellTech, now Intel). I have been using it for software development, TeX, and number crunching. The system is very stable (virtually no crashes, very few bugs, and no significant memory leaks in the kernel) and feels reasonably fast.
