FROM; HUGH MAHER, U.C. Berkeley Mailing Address: "burke@ucbdean.UUCP" (or ARPA) (I think) I just received a "press release" from HOMEGROUND, the Kate Bush fanzine in England, which states: "We can now bring you the confirmed details of Kate's first new single release in three years. Taken from her forthcoming (and unamed) new album, the single is called:- "RUNNING UP THAT HILL" the "B" side is called "UNDER THE IVY." The 12" single (Kate's first in the U.K.) will feature an extended version of "Running up that Hill" plus an instrumental version, in addition to "Under the Ivy" It is scheduled for release in August. Please watch the Music Press (Melody Maker & NME) for more details." I also learned from Joel Watkins of Livermore, CA that EMI - London has repeatedly confirmed the UK release date as August 5th, and the US release date as August 7th, with the single being released to radio stations on August 5th in the U.S. The album should be out by September. For more info, contact me at the above address. (burke@ucbdean.UUCP) (or ARPA) Hugh Maher UC BERKELEY, CA Well, the above message didn't get posted, and since then, I've found out some new information, so I'm just going to add it to the end of this article and try to post it... During lunch, I called Capitol-EMI in San Francisco. The woman who answered the phone said that employees of the company got a "SNEAK PREVIEW" of Kate's new single. She said that she really liked it, and that it was "The Best Thing that [Kate] has ever done..." another quote: "It's really rythmic but it's also really beautiful and pretty. It DEFINITELY has top-40 potential, and the Company is all set to heavily push it with the radio stations and generally promote the single and the album" She also mentioned something about an accompanying video that will also receive the same promotional backing. WOW! "Suspended in Gaffa..." (and "running up the hill" to the record store..) Hugh Maher From postnews Tue Jul 23 13:17:32 1985 Subject: JUICY INFO. ON KATE BUSH'S NEW SINGLE!!!!
