I'm looking for programs (commercial and other) for converting Mac Adobe Illustrator, Aldus Freehand, Mac PICT, and Mac TIF files into any of the various PC formats - and back. In particular, I want the color map to be maintained with reasonable accuracy as well as vector information (if that was the original format). (My apologies if this is a frequently asked question in this newsgroup; I normally don't read it, but I have watched it for the past week with no luck.) Corel Draw will read Adobe Illustrator, but I'm not sure that it can write files that can be read by Adobe Illustrator. Also, Adobe makes a version of Illustrator for the PC; are the file formats compatible (except, of course, for the file system differences)? The goal is to be able to modify complex images on either system (Mac or PC). Any and all information will be most appreciated - if response warrents, I'll post asummary.
