Some times it would be nice to run all the fancy games from the IBM PC/XT 4.77MHz era! I wonder if someone has a Public Domain TSR that can load smootly a 16MHz...33MHz system so it behaves like an 4.77 MHz box??? At simtel20 there are following programs:
Directory : PD1:<MSDOS.AT>, file: AT-SLOW.ARC, Slow AT's down to 4.77 for
games and such
PD1:<MSDOS.AT>, AT-SLOW3.ARC, Use high-res timer to slow down 80286/80386
PD1:<MSDOS.SYSUTL>, WHOAPC.ARC, WHOA! slows down PC or AT, v1.0

Try the package "v07i130-131 scrutils.zoo" recently posted to c.b.i.p. It contains a utility `reftest', that will find the best RAM refresh time for your chips, and create a small utility `qfresh.com', that will set this new refresh time, ending up with an apparent higher speed. You can also use this utility to set a *smaler* refresh time, thus slowing down everything. Just an idea.
