qst de k9eui hr arrl bulletin nr 35 from arrl headquarters newington ct may 7, 1984 to all radio amateurs bt the 1984 world communications day contest, phone and cw, sponsored by labre, the iaru society of brazil, will be from 0000z may 19 until 2400z may 20. 160 through 10 meters may be used. entry categories are single operator single transmitter all bands, multi operator single transmitter all bands, and club competition. stations may be worked once per band, exchanging signal report and itu zone. your own country may be contacted for zone credit but not for qso points. for contacts between different continents, count 2 points for 10/15/20 meters and 4 points for 40/80/160 meters. for different countries on the same continent, count 1 point on 10/15/20 meters and 2 points on 40/80/160 meters the multiplier is the sum of the number of itu zones worked on each band. keep a separate log for each band/mode, remove dupes, include a summary sheet, and mail your entry to, labre itu contest committee p.o. box 07 004, 70000 brasilia, df, brazil. entries must be postmarked by july 31. include an s.a.e. and 5 ircs for a copy of the results ar

qst de k9eui hr arrl bulletin nr 35 from arrl headquarters newington ct may 24, 1985 to all radio amateurs bt fcc has authorized spread spectrum techniques in the amateur service, above 420 mhz. the report and order in docket 81 414, released on may 24, becomes effective in 12 months. this delay is intended to encourage the amateur community to develop voluntary standards for the use of spread spectrum. in the interim, special temporary authorizations will be available to interested amateurs. the commission also approved docket 81 413, a limited authorization for spread spectrum use in the public safety service, and the industrial, scientific and medical service. more information can be found in the arrl letter ar
