I am currently running an Everex RAM 3000 Deluxe Memory Expansion board on a Leading Edge Model D2 computer with 640K of conventional RAM. What I am experiencing is a strange problem with the memory manager. Between 5-20 minutes after accessing a program that uses expanded memory such as Telix or Ventura Professional, the system locks up, forcing me to reboot. When I reboot, the memory manager fails to initialize. The only way that I know of to solve this problem is to run memory diagnoistics again and again until it reports that it could find the expanded memory starting address and initialize the expanded memory. I then reboot and everything works fine until another 5-20 minutes after accessing a program that uses expanded memory. This cycle is annoying. My question is: Is it the memory on the Everex RAM 3000 Deluxe that is screwing up, the memory board itself and/or my bus port on my motherboard that is dying or dead? The Everex RAM 3000 Deluxe Board is approximately 1 year old. I would appreciate any information that you can provide since purchasing another 2mb Expanded memory board isn't cheap -- especially the one by Intel. ...dale ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ name: Dale C.
