[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] MicroSoft Mouse driver

schoch@trident.arc.nasa.gov (Steve Schoch) (08/26/90)

I'm trying to write a program that uses the MicroSoft Mouse driver (or
a clone). I have a Extended VGA card that will do standard (640x480)
modes as well as extended modes (800x600 and 1024x768).

The trouble is that the program works fine at 640x480, but when I go to
800x600 with a Logitech driver the cursor does not always redraw what is
underneath properly. When I use a MicroSoft driver it again works fine
at 640x480 but the cursor does not appear at all at the higher resolutions.

The VGA card came with some patch files for various programs, but not
for the mouse driver itself.

I have seen other programs work at higher resolutions. How do they do it?
I suspect that the programs draw the cursor themselves but I'm not sure.
Why would the mouse driver draw the cursor for you if all programs that
use it have to draw their own?

How to I get my program to work at higher resulutions?

	Steve
