Problem: I have several Unix workstations and two laser printers. I'm short of serial ports on the workstations, but I have an AT compatible which is nearly unused. The workstations and the AT are all connected via Ethernet. So I want to hook the printers on the AT. I need a piece of software, which listens on the remote printer port and shuffles any incoming data from the workstations to the printers. Questions: Does such a program exist? (I'm sure I can do it myself. But if a solution already exists I will find me a better way to waste my time :-). If the answer is "yes". How much does it cost? (e.g. is it cheaper than buying a terminal server?) If the answer is "do it yourself". Should I use MS-DOS or Minix? If the answer is "use MS-DOS". I do not know very much about the internals of MS-DOS. Which is the best way to serve a network port and two printer ports in parallel in a single tasking system? If the answer is "use Minix". Is there a TCP/IP package for Minix? (ka9q?) Can someone please help? Matthias
