I have just bought a Future Domain SCSI Host Adapter and a Maxtor 8760S SCSI Hard Disk (780MB-unformatted). I've got the documentation for the Adapter but there was none with the disk (which I got cheap - brand new, unopened etc). This is the first time I've dabbled with SCSI. When the system powers up the Adapter says: No SCSI driver present, check cables and power Well I've done all that & it still doesnt see the hard disk. There are no addressing/interrupt conflicts because I've stripped out all the other boards. I suspect that the drive needs terminating (although the resistor packs are there...not connected?). None of the posts to the left of the bus connector have jumpers on them although this might suggest a SCSI address of 0. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks in advance..... Regards.... ...........Ian P.S. This machine is a 386SX. It will eventually be running Xenix when the drive works OK. Try calling or writing to Maxtor. Their address and number is: Maxtor Corporation Technical Publications 211 River Oaks Parkway San Jose, CA 94134-1913 Phone (408) 432 1700 Ask them for a technical manual for the XT8000 series. I've got the ESDI version of the 8760 and configuring the jumpers was pretty hopeless until I got the manual from them.
