Don, Enter *70 (or 1170 from rotary) before you dial your call. For example, to call me at home it would be *70 1 913 749 4720. Some charge for a call-waiting service that can be disabled (an extra 'feature'). It's worth a try. -- Remember when dethroning idols to save the pedestals--they may come in handy...

I have the call waiting disable feature on my phone to accomidate my modem and I use the *70 code to enable it. I have a personal problem with this. (This might be better handled in the telcom news group). I don't understand why in my case I have to pay Ma Bell to have the ability to disable what is already and option that I'm paying for. I think its crazy. I can't do much about it since it's certainly cheaper than installing a separate phone line. How many others in net land get charged for this bogus additional service???? srm -- Scott R. The code used here is 70#.

This works on my phone: If you send '*70' and pause for a moment prior to dialing the number, call waiting will be disabled during that call only. for example: 'ATDT*70,5551212' Mike Karin Hewlett-Packard Co. Colorado Springs Division mikek@col.hp.com
