x From June 1985 BACKSCATTER, newsletter of the Association of North American Radio Clubs' (ANARC) Over-the-Horizon Radar Committee: MAINE RADAR TO START UP SOON "Test transmissions from the first sector of the US Air Force's OTH radar in Maine are expected to start this summer or fall. Listen for loud buzz-chirps with bandwidths of 5, 10, 20 or 40 kHz. When the bandwidth is 5 or 10 kHz, the waveform repetition rate should be 10 to 20/second; when it's 20 or 40 kHz, 20 to 60/second." "The experimental OTH radar was authorized to transmit in these bands, according to QST (April 80):" _________________________________________ | Bands Authorized (kHz) for | | 1985 USAF OTH Radar Experiment | |_________________________________________| | 6765-7000 10100-11175 17360-17900| | 7300-7508.4 11400-12330 18030-19993| | 7530-8195 13360-14000 20010-21000| | 9040-9995 14350-14993 21450-21850| | 15100-16460 | |_________________________________________| "Bands used by the operational radar may be different. It will also be capable of transmitting in the 5000- 6740 and 22250-30600 bands, but will probably be res- tricted to only portions of the added spectrum. In general, look for it in the Fixed bands." -- =============================================================================== Bob Parnass, Bell Telephone Laboratories - ihnp4!ihu1h!parnass - (312)979-5414
