I've been tasked to come up with a means of batch transferring files between our UNIX platform and remote PC's on a scheduled basis. Since my experience is primarily (but not exclusively) with UNIX, I'm at something of a loss. Connectivity would probably be initiated by the PC's, though we're open to all ideas. The link will involve asynchronous connection through a packet switch network, but that shouldn't be a problem as long as the solution allows one to tailor the connection sequence. The PC could certainly support Desqview/386 or Windows 3.0, though I'm unaware of any job scheduling capabilities in those packages. A commercial package will be considered provided it follows "PC pricing" (that is, not too expensive). We currently support ckermit and uucp on the UNIX side, and intend to check out the PD implementations of UUCP for DOS. Please email your suggestions. I'll summarize if mail indicates interest. Thanks in advance.
