[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] Sending plotter output to a LaserJet printer

ORCUTT@cc.utah.edu (09/26/90)

I have a program called HTBasic that can make graphs on either
a printer or an HP-GL language plotter. However, the printer
graphics are done using DUMP GRAPHICS, which gives graphics at
screen resolution, not printer resolution. I have a LaserJet
printer, and I want to get a cartridge that makes it behave like
a Hewlett-Packard plotter. Can anyone tell me:

1) Experiences with different brands of cartridges/software.
2) How fast are they?
3) How do they handle the plotter coordinate system?
4) Can they map different pen numbers to different line widths?
5) How do you tell the cartridge that the data is a plot and
   not a printout?
6) Can they make plots in both portrait and landscape?

Any comments would be helpful.
