I have a 2400 baud modem in a Hyundai 286 compatible PC.. It has been working fine up till yesterday. At first when I dialed it I got the message NO DIALTONE So I checked the phones and everything was fine. Trying again I was able to dial the modem but when it acted like it would make the connect it would just keep going with the "high pitched" connect noise but would not connect. I tried using ProComm and Kermit with no results. I "reseated" the modem and even moved it to another slot. I reloaded the software as well. Anybody have any clues? I do not want to go out and buy a new modem if that is not the problem.
