[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] Upgrading 386 for UNIX and DOS - disks? SCSI? Mice? COM boards?

wcs) (10/03/90)

I'm planning to upgrade my old 16MHz AT&T 6386. I want to be able
to run AT&T UNIX SVR3.2.2 and MS-DOS/Windows (in separate partitions.)

1) Can I use a SCSI disk, or should I use ESDI instead? Do the
standard OS drivers support SCSI? The current ST506 is too slow.

2) Mice - the standard AT&T bus mouse works ok in UNIX - can Windows
	3.0 recognize it also?

3) COM boards - I want to add 2 RS-232 ports, and have them usable
from either DOS or UNIX. Will any cheap 2-port board work,
or do I have to avoid certain brands? Will the boards come
with UNIX drivers, or do the standard drivers support everything?
