[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] Telnet for IBM-PC

dedwards@mwunix.mitre.org (David N. Edwards) (09/30/90)

Greetings!

I was wondering if anyone out there might know of a "freeware" version
of telnet for IBM PCs. We are getting Western Digital ethernet cards for
them, and it would be nice to be able to log on to our various suns /
risc 6000s without having to get full-blown PC-NFS for each PC. Thanks!

                                                  - Dave Edwards
                                                    davee@mitre.org

P.S. FTP would be nice too, but I don't want to seem cheap!

The NCSA version of telnet is PD and contains a version of telnet, ftp,
and tn3270. I use it and it works fine for me. If you leave it in ftp
mode in a dos shell running under windows, others can actually ftp YOUR
machine while you're off doing something else unproductive. I don't remeber
where I got my copy, but here is a list of ftp sites claiming to have NCSA
stuff:

Good luck . . . . .
