[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] Info on Maxtor XT-2190 Hard drive needed PLEASE!

bolton@cg-atla.UUCP (Lee Bolton) (10/04/90)

	Doncha just hate these postings?

I've been given the use of an old drive, of which
neither the owner nor I have any documents at all.

Could some kind soul mail or post the following? REAL SOON???

	A Maxtor model XT 2190 2:

		Unformatted Capacity:
		# Cylinders:
		# heads:
		# sectors:
		reduced Write Cylinder:
		Write Pre-comp cylinder:
		spin-up delay:
		spin-up draw:

BTW. This beast seems to draw a LOT of power spinning up.
so much so that the other hard drive chokes on occasion.
I don't have much experience with little power supplies (200w),
But this just don't seem right. Is it?

The XT 2090 is an MFM drive with the following parmaters:
  Formatted capacity: 150 Mb
  Cylinders: 1224
  Heads 15
  SPT 17
  Reduce Write 1225
  Write Precomp 1225
  Transfer rate 5 megabits/second
  Access 30 ms
I have no information on the power draw.
  Hope this helps

Most DOS versions can't handle addressing above 1024 - so you may
want to use a "add-on" driver for that. Without it, the disk space
shrinks [what is 1024 {cyl} * 15 {surfaces} * 17 {sectors} / divided
by 2 == size in K, since a sector holds 512 bytes..]
