I've just received my free Prodigy startup kit, and have a problem. I use 4DOS as my primary DOS shell (currently at version 3.01a or 3.02). PRODIGY refuses to work under any circumstances with 4DOS, but is quite happy if I boot using COMMAND.COM instead. Has anyone else noticed this, and is there a solution apart from rebooting from a floppy? Richard Stanton pstanton@gsb-lira.stanford.edu

I've been using PRODIGY with 4DOS for a year now with no problems. Which version are you using? I think mine is 3.01. There is a newer version floating around, does anyone know where? /David Barr - Penn State CAC Student Consultant | 'The Trim Sig' | dsbarr@endor.cs.psu.edu | 906 Tener Hall | DSB100@psuvm.psu.edu \Univ. Prodigy at one point admitted that they had a "Big Brother" mode to silently both look at, and alter by downloading, your disk space. They claimed this was to allow them to do updates of THEIR software. It sounds like 4DOS may not tolerate such things, so Prodigy designed its s/w to not run with it. -- A host is a host from coast to coast.....wb8foz@mthvax.cs.miami.edu & no one will talk to a host that's close............(305) 255-RTFM Unless the host (that isn't close)......................pob 570-335 is busy, hung or dead....................................33257-0335

Really!? Sheesh! Call me paranoid, if you like, but I have to take a skeptical look at any telecommunications service that can make unauthorized changes to any of my software. (even if it _is_ to the proprietary interface) If I want an upgrade, let me install it myself. Just another reason why I've never considered Prodigy, I guess. I saw a demo once, and wasn't even impressed enough to sign up for a free month. -- Roy M. I just spoke with Tom Rawson at J.P. Software five minutes ago. The current version of 4DOS is 3.02, not 3.1. A minor bug-fix update, called 3.02a, will ship within two weeks. The next major upgrade isn't due until early next year. Cathy _________________________________________________________________ Catherine A.
