[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] Networking 5 or more IBM PC-AT's Using RS-232 Serial Ports

tidedu@mars.lerc.nasa.gov (William T. Dedula) (10/16/90)

Hello All;
I would like to know if anyone has heard of (or has done)
networking of IBM PC's using their built-in standard serial
ports ??? If so, I'd be interested in learning the BEST, and
MOST EFFICIENT way (In your opinion) to do it. I am particularly
interested in the actual connection scheme but will welcome
any additional information you may have on the subject.
Also ... are there any magazine articles that I can refer to ???

I have a need to network 5 or more PC's in a way that is cheap
and can be duplicated (With simple instructions) by many people
of different technical backgrounds.

Using this networking scheme, all PC's must have the capability
of sending and receiving data form all other PC's while at the
same time ... also work independently.

Thank you very much for any information you can provide !!!
