HELP !!!!!!!!!!! I AM GOING CRAZY !!!!!!!!!!!!!! Over the weekend I installed a hard drive on my XT clone. I have noticed that some programs that work fine when run from floppies, fail to work properly when run from the hard drive. I put PC Tools on my drive by "running" pcsetup program. PC Tools locks up when I try to use the (E)dit function on files I have selected. Only warm/cold boot will get me out. I copied all the files from my Qmodem disk to a directory called Qmodem. When I try to run it from the hard drive, I get the message that comm 1 is not available. It works fine on floppy, modem is set up for comm 1. I setup Quick C 2.0 on my hard drive using the setup file. I accepted all the default values and it built all the libraries. I modified Autoexec.bat and config.sys as directed. When I type QC the hard drive light flashes off and on until I reboot. The program never starts. It works from the floppy. I am at a loss as what to do next. Would some kind soul help me out? PKZIP works fine running from the hard drive. I DON'T WANT TO HIRE A CONSULTANT, BUT MAYBE I COULD INVEST A FEW BEERS. Thanks Please send me E-Mail or call Tom Kelly at 619-562-2130 (Santee). If you'd like, maybe I could help. I need more info from you however, like the brand and model of the various equipment you have installed. Your DOS version and OEM and the contents of your autoexec and config files. Regards, Bob G. 268-1744 San Diego
