I have an AT motherboard (MBVLSI-166) I am using a western digital WA5 and a fujitsu M2227D hard drive. I am not able to low level format the drive with this controller card. I can low level it with a WA2 and then switch the WA5 back in the machine and can use the drive. My problem is that no matter which controller card I use I get this error message on boot-up. NO ROM BASIC SYSTEM HALTED I have fdisked the drive and formated with system files. I can take the drive and put in another machine and it boots. My theory is that the controller cards from western digital are not compatable with this motherboard. The mystery deepends. If I remove the drive from set-up I get no-system disk in drive A:. Just what you would expect. If I put the drive back in the set-up it behaves like it is trying to boot and then gets the error message. So, I cann't say 100% if it is the card or not. Has anyone encountered this problem? I know what the error message means but no idea how to fix it. Thanks in advance, Steve Misrack steve@ucsd.edu
