Fellow netters: I feel myself "inching" towards that 33 MHz 386 decision... but still feeling very tentative. After initially feeling strong about Zeos, I decided I felt more strongly about my bank balance (as will my creditors) and have pretty much limited myself to the Gateway and EPS systems based on my research and comments from other netters. One "last" request for any comments from others before I order (and can become a commentator myself). 1) Hard drive: EPS offers Micropolis 1654 160 Mb, Gateway has either a Microscience or CDC 150 Mb. Comments? Based on PC Mag reliability reports I'm tending towards Micropolis. 2) Hard drive controller: Gateway offers UltraStor 12F w/32k while EPS has just "upgraded" from that to Adaptek 2370 w/64k. I know the UltraStor controls 3 FD's, does Adaptek? Comments? 3) Monitor: EPS offers Sony CPD1304 noninterlaced, Gateway MAG Computronic PMV14VC. Sony is supposed to be great but has reliability problems. MAG Computronic a surprise PC Mag Editor's Choice recently. Comments? Do I REALLY need interlaced monitor (I'm still a Hercules mono man)? 4) Video card: EPS offers Orchid ProDesigner II, Gateway the ATI VGA Wonder. Latter a PC Mag Editor's Choice, I've heard of problems with Orchid but these may have been the earlier model. Comments? 5) Power supply. Gateway offers Kung Pao, I haven't asked EPS yet. I've read some things on Kung Pao but I can't remember where or when. Comments? As always, any general comments from those who haven't already been generous enough to respond will be appreciated. I hope to help out others as I have been helped! Bill Bushing 6500boo@ucsbuxa.bitnet 6500boo@ucsbuxa.ucsb.edu "Life is too important to be taken seriously" - Einstein
