On a related topic, does anyone know of a conversion utility which will allow
Macintosh sound files to be played through the Soundblaster?

I've seen Remac, but I believe that just uses the PC speaker. I would like
to run the sound fully through the SB.

Wim.

Wim: I tried to send you mail but it bounced. So I'm posting.

This answer may be too simple, but it seems to me that mac soundfiles
are already playable on the Soundblaster. All you have to do is slap
the header on the beginning of the file. With a SB, you run VOC-HDR,
and it will do that for you. Just make sure you know the sample rate of
the file first. I suggest using Remac to play around with the speed,
and when you know it, run VOC-HDR. Then you can VPLAY the file. Hope
this helps...

There is a program called 'Sputter' which is able to play Macintosh, Covox, and
some other sound files though the Sound Blaster, the Adlib, and I believe a few
other sound boards as well as the internal speaker.

I believe it is a shareware program, but I am not sure if you can get a copy
though anonymous ftp anywhere.

How do you get the sound to come out the adlib card, and not your
speaker? I can't figure out the configuration command, or a
command parameter. I've been working on this for a long time. Any
help much appreciated.

There is a utility that comes with the SoundBlaster called voc-hdr.exe
(located in sb\voxkit) that will convert Mac/Amiga sound files to
SoundBlaster .VOC files.
