[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] LaTeX-- problem

      I copied the TeX software on ymir.claremont.edu
      for the IBM PC. After unarcing the files 
      and following the instructions, I landed into
      trouble executing LaTeX. 

      C:\TEX\> latex <filename>

      results in lot of control characters dumped onto the screen.
      Tried writing the o/p onto a file but no result.

      There is no syntax error since the file produces o/p
      when I run it on a SUN.

      Any helpful suggestions?
