I have a SUPERVGA video card supporting 800x600x256 and 1024x768x16 and this card is apparently not a common one because none of the vga viewers that I have tried offer a suitable configuration. I have tried to configure it using various viewer formats, but have only had partial success, i.e. only displays on a small fraction of the screen. Any info regarding GIF viewers that support this card or info regarding how to configure it properly for a particular viewer would be much appreciated!! Thanks! Posting replies might be > a good idea. > > --cheers-- > -- > Marco Imperatore > Computer Graphics Lab, University of Waterloo, Waterloo, Ontario, Canada > uucp: mimperre@watcgl I have been using a very good shareware GIF viewer called VUIMG262. It supports my ATI VGA WONDER at 800x600x256 along with many other assorted video modes, resolutions, colors, and cards. Version 2.62 even has a VESA driver, which you could use if your card supports the VESA standard, or if you have adapter software which will let your card follow the VESA standard. (That's what I use). I found this software at SIMTEL, but it is probably also located at wuarchive.wustl.edu also. (At SIMTEL, look under /gif dir.) As I was saying, VUIMG supports TONS of different cards, and if you can't find a driver that works for you with this software, you probably won't find any other software that supports it either. :-) If you really can't get one of the drivers to work for you, your best bet would really be to get in touch with your card manufacturer and see if they have VESA adapter software available which will let you use the "standard" SVGA driver. (If you don't know, VESA is the association of video card manufacturers that has finally agreed upon a standard for SVGA setups.) BTW: The name of the file to ftp from SIMTEL20 is "vuimg262.zip".
