I recently reassembled a COMPAC '286 Portable (perhaps vintage '85) and am
currently working on a memory and/or BIOS upgrade. The board only came with
256K and has only two banks for removable 14 pin chips. Supposibly, AMI
BIOS will work in this machine, but will that solve my upgrade problems?
I'd like to get at least a meg on the board but do not want to spend a small
fortune (i.e I don't want to deal with the Compac people). I'm also having
trouble with the stock 30Meg. I can't seem to get it to boot DOS from the
C: drive. I don't have Compac DOS. Is this the problem?
If anyone can help I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks...
