In this list, games have been rated on a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being the
best and 1 being the worst. For each game, the total number of votes,
the average rating, and the vote distribution are shown. New games are
indicated by a "*" before their entry. If a "(C)" appears after the
title it means that the game is a CD-ROM or disc system title. If a
"(J)" appears after the title it means that the game is currently only
available in Japan.

The general guideline for ratings is:

8-10 worth buying at full price
6-7 worth buying at a discount, or if you're particularly interested
     in this kind of game
3-5 only worth renting
2 only worth playing for free, and only for a few minutes
1 worthless

The vote distribution uses a single character to represent the
percentage of votes for each ranking. The following character codes can
appear:

"." no votes cast "3" 30-39% of the votes "7" 70-79% of the votes
"0" 1-9% of the votes "4" 40-49% of the votes "8" 80-89% of the votes
"1" 10-19% of the votes "5" 50-59% of the votes "9" 90-99% of the votes
"2" 20-29% of the votes "6" 60-69% of the votes "*" 100% of the votes

To cast your votes, send mail to either of the below addresses:
				video@irss.njit.edu
				..!uunet!irss.njit.edu!video

In your mail, any line beginning with the word "vote" will be considered
a vote. ALL OTHER LINES ARE IGNORED. Votes should be in the form:

		vote [rating] [system code] [title]

where [rating] is an integer between 1 and 10, [system code] is a
TWO-LETTER code describing the system the game is for, and [title] is
everything on the line after [system code]. The system codes are:

AL = Atari Lynx AM = Commodore Amiga
GB = Nintendo Game Boy GS = Apple II GS
MA = Apple Macintosh NE = Nintendo NES and Famicom
PC = IBM PC, PS/2, and compatibles	SG = Sega Genesis and MegaDrive
SM = Sega Master System ST = Atari ST
TG = NEC TurboGrafx-16, TurboExpress, and PC Engine

PLEASE NOTE THAT SEVERAL THINGS HAVE CHANGED WITH THIS SYSTEM. First,
the system code is now a TWO-LETTER code, not a one-letter code. Second,
the Atari 2600/7800 was removed as a system and the Commodore Amiga,
Apple II GS, Apple Macintosh, IBM PC and PS/2, and Atari ST were added.
Future additions include the SNK Neo Geo and the Nintendo Super Famicom.

Also note that the Nintendo Entertainment System and the Famicom are
similair but NOT compatible. Same goes for the NEC TurboGrafx-16 and PC
Engine. TG-16 CD-ROM games will most likely NOT work with the
TurboExpress (but don't quote me on that).

Range of systems available subject to change based on volume of votes.

Case is not considered in game titles or system codes. Valid votes
might be:

vote 8 sG Ghouls 'N Ghosts
vote 1 Ne friday the 13th

The code for this rating service, and much of this text, was provided by
Chuck Musciano. John Leo modified the code to support video game
ratings. Eric Ng, the new maintainer, added personal computers and
provided for sub-dividing the list into pieces for easier reading, and
is the one to blame now.
