[net.ham-radio] Software UARTS, CW, RTTY reception

lauren@vortex.UUCP (Lauren Weinstein) (08/01/85)

Greetings. I'm looking for algorithms and/or code for software
UARTs for speeds up to, oh, 150 bps or so. What I'm REALLY
trying to find is code (8080/Z80 ASM would be best, though
I guess I can take it in any form, including BASIC) to handle
the decoding functions of CW and RTTY listening. While I *am*
interested in systems that depend on UARTs, and would like to
hear about these, I am also very interested in systems that handle
RTTY or CW decoding through watching a single bit (thusly my interest
in software UARTS). Ideally, such systems would require only being
told the word length (for RTTY) and could then determine the proper
speed on its own, and could also handle varying CW speeds.

Any and all information would be appreciated on these topics.
Please reply directly if possible--I'll summarize for this group
later. Thanks much.

P.S. I'm also looking for recommendations for equipment/circuits
for small, low power, flexible, rtty modems. Ideally they should
be able to handle shifts as small as 85 Hz and be able to filter
out the multiplexed rtty channels down to one channel at a time.
