[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] PC Digital Audio

david@hobbes.catt.ncsu.edu (David Chappell) (11/16/90)

In the past year, I have developed a method for playing good quality
digitized sound on ANY PC without the use of extra hardware. I have
written several programs to use this method, including several general
sound players and a few demos.
If you are interested in getting copies of my work, it is available via
anonymous ftp. The site name is hobbes.catt.ncsu.edu and the
numerical address is 128.109.153.75
After logging on, change directory to pub/sound
There you can find the latest copy of any and all availble files. Note
that initially there will be few files available, but as I update my
programs and write new ones, more files will be available. All sound
packages will be compressed with PKZIP. I've also included several
digitized sample files (*.VOC, *.IFF, *.SND) in the same directory.
If you are interested in source code, it is available as file paper.text.
The paper includes full documentation on how to duplicate my effort.s
If you can't ftp, I'll mail you a disk (specify 5.25" or 3.5") with programs
and sound samples if you'll send a $5 donation (US dollars) to:
David T. Chappell, 242 Stonewall Road, Salisbury, NC 28144
If you have any problems, questions, or comments, please write.
