[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] SCSI on 386sx with UNIX ?????

testurm@medusa.informatik.uni-erlangen.de (Torsten Sturm ) (11/16/90)

Hello, world !

I've got a special problem :

I've got a 386sx, one 80MB Seagate ST296 SCSI HD, and I want
to run SCO UNIX or SCO XENIX -386 on it;

Unix does not work with the HostAdapter ST02 from SEAGATE.

With which Host Adapter does Unix work correctly ?
Do I need drivers ?

(I've heard from the Adaptec AHA 1542 or 1522 ?!?! )

Thanks a lot for quick answering !

Bye

You need an Adaptec AHA 1540/1542 or MicroNet's ISA SCSI host adaptor.
MicroNet's adaptor is supposedly device driver compatable with the Adaptec.

The Seagate adaptors are very dumb boards, only sufficient for running MS-DOS
with a SCSI drive.
