In a recent trade journal article, mention was made of Intel replacing early 80386 chips without double sigmas. This "recall" program is apparently being handled through manufacturers, e.g. Compaq. The chips do not have double sigmas and are not stamped "for 16 bit software only". I have such an 80386 but it in a no-name motherboard clone from a now defunct mail order company. I have been unable to determine how to directly get a replacement chip from Intel. Has anyone successfully obtained a replacement chip directly from Intel? The only problem symptom that I have experienced is that Windows 3.0 displayed a dailog box the very first time that it was running warning that multiply operations may not work properly with my 80386. ============================================================================== Robert Slaski Usenet: uunet!netwrx1!slaski NetWorks One Internet: slaski%netwrx1@uunet.uu.net 8229 Boone Blvd., Suite 810 slaski@netwrx1.nw1.com Vienna, Virginia 22182 Voice: (703) 827-7767
