[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] pc-nfs: ftp under MS-DOS 3.30 over Serial Line Interface Protocol

bv@NIXCTC.DE (Burkhard Viehoff) (11/19/90)

        Hi Netters,

Who can help me on SLIP connecting PC to UNIX-host ?

We have a PC running unter MS-DOS 3.30 connected via COM-Port
to a Unix-Box: MX300 / SINIX 5.2.1 .
We tried this constellation for the fist time.

Telnet works ok. over slip. FTP also seems to work. But with
lager files it happens, that the resulting file at the server-site
or at client site has zero length.
'Larger files' means files > 1 K.

At the SINIX side there is a maximum for the size of the file
to be transported over 'slip'. It is set to 512 K.
In the pc-nfs-Manual we don't find a closer documentation about
SLIP. Besides we still use pc-nfs 3.0. But we didn't hear about
pc-nfs 3.01 correcting this kind of error.

Perhaps someone has experience with slip under pc-nfs and can
give me some advice ?

What is the data-frame-size for 'slip' under 'pcnfs'?

As network-card we use the WD 8003 EB board.

Thank your very much in advance
for your help and interest !

        Best regards
                         Burkhard Viehoff
