[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] Help on disconnect memory for Desqview

hszhou@fs0.ee.ubc.ca (Haosheng Zhou) (11/20/90)

Hi, there,

I need your help. I want to disconnect the conventional memory on board
so I can use the mapping capacity of my LIM 4.0 with Desqview. However,
the DIP switch on my XT board can only set the conventional memory to
0k, 512k, 576k, and 640k. This means I can, in the best case, disconnect
the on board memory by 128k since my LIM 4.0 card can not map down to
the address 0000:0000.

I have tried the remove some memory chips on board so it has only 256k
memory. But then the machine recognizes only 256k and leaves my LIM 4.0
board alone.

My question is, then, if there is some software to activate the machine
so it recognizes those "fill back" memory on LIM 4.0 as its "conventional
memory."

Please send your message to hszhou@ee.ubc.ca.

Thanks in advance.
