I don't think the concern is so much with law as it is one of good will.
The NET is, by and large, support through the astounding good graces of a
great many institutions who, if they get the feeling people on it are no-
goodniks, might very well decide that the children are misbehaving and don't
deserve their toys.

Don't get me wrong, I think copyprotection is not only a rotten trick to pay
on a loyal customer but is also destructive of the customers equipment
(especially some of those protection schemes for the commodore 64/128 disk
drives). But the perceptions of our main-frame benefactors are very
important--they are the NET GODS and can bring Armageddon (sic) about in a
heartbeat.

Boy, talk about reactionaries. In the first place censorship has not taken
place here at all--if it had all of your ballyhooing would have just been
wiped. In the second place the USSR comment was so far off base that it was
in the twighlight zone. The very fact that you placed your response and I
was able to read it discredits your point.

The point that was trying to be made is that none of use own this system and
we use it by the good graces of our hosts. Like it or not if our hosts get
ticked off because they perceive banditry (true of untrue) they can very
easily discontinue the philanthropic ways and say "Too bad guys, you are on
your own." And I sincerely doubt any of us would like that.

Nobody likes a house guest with bad manners or who causes trouble.

Oh yeah, I forgot, keep on breaking those copy protection schemes out there,
because manufacturers who use them are taking away our rights to make one
(1) archival copy of any and all software we ligitamitly own.
