They are: alt.sex.* (Maybe the sheer volume???) alt.drugs.* (who knows?) A decision was made, without NET consultation, at the Australian gateway - munnari.oz.au - to filter these groups, resulting in some bitter arguments (with no observable effect, as yet). The counter argument is that these groups are still available via mailing lists etc. But the precedent exists !!! Strange, we get alt.drugs and six varieties of alt.sex.* up here in Darwin, and I thought it all came through the same gateway. > A decision was made, without NET consultation, at the Australian gateway - > munnari.oz.au - to filter these groups, resulting in some bitter arguments Hmm. Then they went after the newsgroups. now it's only a question of whether or not they'll go after the mail servers. (like there's any doubt) the true question is whether or not they'll be able to monitor indidual mail flow (actually, the way sysadmins have cringed over ftp & news there's little question on that either) i think some people are going to have a little extra work.....

I am all new to this. I don't see any newsgroups starting with alt. on my screen. Is there a certain trick to displaying these?
