[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] Isolated mouse problems

ken@gtenmc.UUCP (Ken Swapp) (11/29/90)

Hello again Netters!

I recently wrote to ask for some help regarding problems with my
Microsoft Bus Mouse. One person responded to say that I can't run
Windows 3.0 on an XT. This conflicts with Microsoft technical support,
and it does run fine (slowly) except for the mouse. However, it is
still a possibility.

In addition, I have another situation where my mouse becomes less
responsive as the software loads into memory. I was using Prodigy via
its one free month trial period, and found the same problem; the mouse
would move on the screen (barely) until Prodigy was completely loaded,
and then would no longer move. The exception is when I move the mouse
and then perform certain operations. The mouse driver seems to catch
up and slams the mouse against the screen edge. These symptoms are
the same ones I experienced with Windows 3.0 and Paintbrush.

For those who missed the original posting, this is all on an XT
with 640K. The mouse does behave on my XT with smaller programs.
The mouse & board work perfectly on my 386 at work.

The repeated message is because the problem recurred with software
unrelated to Windows. If anybody has any suggestions, besides buying a
decent computer, please let me know.

     Again, thanks for any help,
     Ken Swapp
