Most likely I'll be rehashing an old topic but in spite of all my efforts to
educate myself, I'm still confused about the following issues in the SX/DX wars
, to whit :
1) We all know the the SX has a 16 bit I/O architecture, and the DX a 32 b
it I/O, but does the SX use 32 bit memory. I have heard technicians at a large
mail order company say that it does, but am not convinced.
2) If the SX/DX differ in this way, what happens when a DX chip finds
itself on an ISA (16 bit) bus, is it reduced to SX status??
3) If the DX/ISA combo is a 16 bit memory path, why go with the DX at the
higher price?
I hope this isn't too redundant, but it hasn't been easy to get through the
Intel/mail order hype. Your responses are appreciated. Thanks - Bob Stanley
