[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] IDE drives w/ Unix or OS/2

spierk@turing.cs.rpi.edu (Kevin Spier) (12/04/90)

Are IDE drives compatible with OS/2 and UNIX/XENIX? If so under what
conditions? Do you need to have a user defined drive type (ala AMI
type 47) in your BIOS or can you use a product like DiskManager to
setup the drive in the CMOS when your BIOS lacks a user defined type?
Are interface cards with BIOS on-board a solution? I would appreciate
any info you have. Please e-mail to me directly and I will post a summary
if there is interest.

Thanks,
