[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] Electrical Engineering Circuit Analysis PD Programs

jhb@cbnewsh.att.com (jacques.harry.benoit) (12/08/90)

Has anyone come across an Electrical Engineering (EE) public domain program
called SPLICE. It is supposed to perform Circuit Analysis. A college friend
of mine is looking for the program and has been unable to locate it. I have
searched the SIMTEL files list and did not find the program. The only thing
remotely similar that I saw a listing for is the program DLANET.ZIP
(polynomial/circuit analysis, w/built in editor).

If you know where I can find any good PD program for electrical circuit
analysis, please send me e-mail to the address below.

Its called SPICE, not SPLICE, thats why you cant find it. There are versions
of SPICE for many different machines and OS's, but since im assuming you seek
the dos version, you want PSPICE.

Actually, there is a cad program called SPLICE; it was developed
at UC Berkeley by Prof Richard Newton and his students. What the
extra 'L' in SPLICE stands for is 'Logic' as this simulator is
for mixed analog digital analysis. I don't think that it is public
domain, but you can check with the distribution office at Berkeley.

Actually, there is such a program on Simtel20, in PD1:<MSDOS.CAD>:

PSPICE.ARC	590622	88/05/07 Electronic circuit design aid, limited demo

but it doesn't appear to be public domain...
