[comp.sys.ibm.pc.misc] Know about COHERENT program?

jma7759@cec2.wustl.edu (James Michael Anderson) (12/14/90)

Ok, so I'm reading my latest copy of COMMUNICATIONS OF THE ACM
(December 1990) and on the page opposite of the table of contents is
an ad for "Everything You Ever Wanter In UNIX And Less. $99.95". The
ad is selling the Mark Williams Company's Coherent clone of UNIX. My
curiosity was raised by the low price; now can anyone tell me more?
The sales pitch claimed that the operating system only needed 10M and
that the program could execute in as little as 640K memory. Does anyone
have any experience with this product?
I can't quite remember, but I seem to recal that the Mark Williams Co.
sold some other product a few years back (a Pascal compiler perhaps?). Does
anybody have an impression of the company?

The UNIX column in Byte had a review of Coherent an issue or two ago.

Mark Williams Co. is mainly known for C compilers.
