I've just gotten a 486 (see configuration data below) and am having some trouble with copying files between the hard disk and floppy drives under OS/2. Whenever I try to copy a large (i. e. > 10K) file from one of the floppies to the hard disk or vice versa, I get a fatal error that halts the processor, which is quite serious under OS/2 since it will normally be able to continue under most error traps. Copying files between the floppies works OK. Copying files on the hard disk is OK. Only between the two are there any problems. I suspect this may be due to some timing problem, since the internal system clock is running very fast (gaining over 1 sec/sec!), and there is quite a speed mismatch between a floppy and hard drive, but I'm not sure. It may be something totally unrelated. Unfortunately, I can't test to see if I have the same problem under DOS since my hard disk is formatted for HPFS. I had the same hard disk/floppies and controller on a 386 and had no problems with OS/2 there. Has anyone run into this problem? Anyone have a possible solution? Can anyone tell me the proper setup parameters related to the clock and timing so I can check if those are proper? Thanks for any information you can provide.
