There are two products that you can try.  The first one I am using 
and like it.  I will be trying the other as soon as the new version
comes out.

pcmail - It was written by Wietse Venema in the Netherlands.  His
bitnet address is wswietse@heitue5

fsuucp - this program includes mail and netnews.  In can be
ftp'd from the pub subdirectory on polyslo.calpoly.edu
